A Dream Upon an Ocean Wave

A dream upon an ocean wave
Comes gently lapping upon the shore.
It leaves behind a memory
Of times so sweet yet are no more.

A dream upon an ocean wave
Repeats its message or’e and or’e;
Retreats into eternal bliss
And stills the heart unto its core.

A dream upon an ocean wave
Brings sands from deep its oceans floor,
Each grain a blessing from above
Receding through the ocean’s door.

A dream upon an ocean wave
Like early morning’s frost – a hoar;
Takes back the early memories
Of times so sweet yet never more.

- Written June 14, 2009, inspired by memories of my daughters' childhood days on Fripp Island, South Carolina.

The Old Theatre Ghost

Recycled words
From the literary trash
Beckon
From a ghostly hollow:
“Come find me…
In the broken-down balcony;
Hiding in the peeling paint
Behind the tattered curtain.”

Stoned

It matters not where
The words go
Riding my bicycle
On a bird’s beak;
Shivering!

Reflections

Reflections in the water
Of times that are,
And times that were,
And times will be again.

Haiku

The settling sun;
The sound of a receding wave –
Carries me away.
